Some people say purpose is your why – what gets you out of bed in the morning, others might say it’s the thing you’re doing when you’re at your best, you’ll also hear about a north star and an anchor (I use both). At PurposeFused, we say it’s why you exist and what you’re here to do. We simply purpose for individuals with what we call our PurposeFused Formula, that is:
Purpose = Passion + Impact + Application.

The reality is you can ask yourself these three questions and perhaps get somewhere close. However, like most things the more thoughtful time and energy you put into your own purpose discovery, the most powerful it will be. That means, the more likely you are to be able to share, lead and live with purpose – and that’s the end game. No point leaving your purpose statement on a napkin in the restaurant.
So, as a simple way to provide a little more depth, for your consideration, try our ABCs below. Answer these 10 questions, then hop back into our Individual Purpose Discovery model and write out:

What impact you want to have on the world

What can you do to make both happen (application) tomorrow, this month, this year.
Here’s your ABCs:

Aspiration: What’s your aspirational dream, something intangible, a moonshot you’d like to achieve in the next 10+ years?

Beliefs: What are some underlying beliefs you embrace as part of being you?

Caring: What things in life do you care most about? Think behind the role / identify to what’s driving your emotions.

Destination: If you’re on the way to your intangible dream, what would be an ideal place to be in 5 years. Something you’re proud of having achieved.

Edge: When are you performing on the fine edge between your optimal skills and the challenge at hand? Taking some of the concept of Flow can really help you identify when you’re at your best (next one too).

Focus: What are you focused on when you loose track of time and feel like the activity you are in is just an extension of yourself?

Gifts: What are some of special qualities you bring to the world and those around you?

Heros: Who are some people you’d most like to meet. Why? If you could spend a day with them, what would you do?

Inspiration: Name three things that inspire you the most?

Joy: What have been some of the most joyful moments in your life? List 3 that spring first to mind.
